Wilson Insurance Brokers, part of the Dickson Insurance Group, is one of the largest insurance brokers in Northern Ireland with 17 offices collaborating a team of 150 colleagues. We provide our clients with solutions to all their insurance needs, ranging from home and motor insurance, to complex commercial business packages.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for overseeing an already established book of renewals whilst contributing to the growth of our business by producing new business income and maximising renewal retention in line with budget expectations, creating developing and converting prospects, all in accordance with agreed procedures and regulatory requirements. The role will be based from our Lisnaskea office with facility to work remotely on a hybrid basis after initial training period.

Main Tasks

  • Proactively servicing an existing portfolio of business.
  • Achieve or over-achieve against quarterly and annual New Business, Renewal, and where specified cross-sell and up-sell targets.
  • Drive the growth of the business by generating enquiries through building and developing an effective prospecting pipeline, asking for referrals, working with introducers, using your contact database and pro-actively cross-selling and up-selling to existing clients.
  • Complete comprehensive fact-finding with prospects and clients to identify all risk requirements and gaps in cover, provide a quotation that meets their requirements, and convert the prospect into business.
  • Build close working relationships with clients that will maximise likelihood of retention, by servicing their requirements throughout the year, maintaining close contact, and keeping them up to date with developments relevant to their business and/or sector.
  • Develop close working relationships with the Wilson Insurance Brokers panel of insurers to ensure that they negotiate the best covers for clients.
  • Work closely with Portfolio Handlers to ensure that responsibilities for servicing clients and pursuing new business are clearly agreed, understood, and fairly shared.
  • Keep client files and system records in good order and up to date in accordance with company procedures and ensure that clear and legible records are kept in respect of all client discussions. Oversee the completion of administrative duties such as the issue of policy documentation, the follow-up of correspondence, and the diary of actions, to ensure that clients are adequately supported.
  • Develop technical product knowledge and market knowledge through discussions with insurers, colleagues, and other industry experts, reading the press, and in general keeping up to date with relevant industry and sector developments. Act as a referral point on selected areas of technical expertise.
  • Support our colleagues in accounts by ensuring the timely collection of outstanding premiums, and achievement of aged debt targets.
  • Ensuring that relevant FCA regulations regarding client management are adhered to, including complaints management, the issue of policy documentation, and disclosure to insurers.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Open GI experience preferrable though not essential as full training will be provided.
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience in a commercial insurance role as a broker or in an insurance company (Fleets, Liability, Property, Farm, Motor Trade, Retail, PI, Cyber)
  • Capable of working without supervision and able to excel when given autonomy.
